Clients: Young professional couple relocating to Berlin
The Brief
Our clients, a young professional couple relocating to Berlin, sought a stylish yet functional interior design for their new home. As non-German speakers, they needed a seamless design process that catered to their lifestyle and aesthetic preferences, making our English-speaking interior design service the perfect solution.
Our Approach
A combination of our Basic and Premium Makeover Packages, alongside our Furniture Design Package and additional consultancy hours, ensured a holistic approach tailored to the couple’s needs. The goal was to create a modern, inviting space with a harmonious balance of textures and colours.
Key design features include:
Feature Wallpaper – A striking Wallism wallpaper in deep blue hues adds a bold statement to the living area.
Furniture Selection – The sofa from The Sofa Company provides a neutral yet cosy foundation, complemented by the coffee table and dining table from Kave Home.
Bespoke TV Unit – Custom-made by one of our exclusive suppliers, the TV unit seamlessly integrates with the space, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.
Lighting & Styling – Elegant contemporary lighting pieces and carefully curated accessories complete the design, elevating the apartment’s overall ambiance.
Design Journey
This project centred on optimising storage while maintaining a stylish and cohesive design. Light oak finishes paired with subtle brass accents provided a versatile foundation, while a mix of marble, corduroy, linen, cotton, and tweed introduced texture, depth, and warmth, creating a home that feels both practical and deeply personal.
To achieve this, our client chose the Level 2 Furniture Design Package, ensuring custom-built storage solutions that maximise space without compromising aesthetics. In addition, they opted for our Premium Makeover Package, beginning with an online consultation to refine the brief. From there, we developed a detailed mood board, space planning layouts, and colour-enhanced 2D elevations, providing a clear vision of the final design. Once every detail was fine-tuned and approved, we curated a comprehensive shopping list, streamlining the process for our client.
Our work encompassed the master bedroom, guest bedroom, living and dining areas, hallway, and bathrooms, each space carefully designed to enhance both functionality and aesthetics. The result is a beautifully balanced home that seamlessly blends storage, style, and personality.
The Köpenick Modern Home by Studio Akiva is a polished example of contemporary suburban living, where clarity of design meets the practical rhythm of everyday family life. Set within a quieter residential pocket of Berlin, the project transforms a blank or dated interior into a cohesive, light-filled home defined by simplicity, function, and understated elegance.
At the heart of the design is a commitment to spatial efficiency and visual calm. The layout has been carefully considered to maximise openness and flow, allowing each area to feel connected while still serving a distinct purpose. Clean lines and a restrained palette form the foundation, with soft neutrals and natural finishes creating a timeless backdrop that supports both durability and comfort.
Materiality plays a subtle but important role throughout. Warm wood tones, matte surfaces, and gentle contrasts introduce depth without disrupting the overall sense of harmony. The design avoids excess, instead focusing on proportion, balance, and the quiet impact of well-chosen elements—an approach that reflects a modern European sensibility.
The living areas are designed to feel both functional and elevated, with furniture selections and layouts that encourage ease of movement and day-to-day usability. Integrated storage solutions ensure that the home remains organised and uncluttered, reinforcing the minimalist aesthetic while supporting the demands of family life.
Lighting is used strategically to enhance both atmosphere and functionality. Layered sources—from ambient ceiling lighting to softer accent illumination, help define zones within the open-plan layout, adding warmth and dimension to the space.
Overall, the Köpenick Modern Home reflects a disciplined yet inviting approach to interior design. It is a project rooted in clarity, where every decision serves a purpose, resulting in a home that feels contemporary, practical, and quietly refined.
